Resurrection: The case for Christ.

Lee Stroebel wrote a book entitled “The case for Christ”. Through his in-depth look into the facts surrounding the person of Jesus Christ namely whether or not this Jesus actually did die a violent death on a cross; and after he died did he in fact raise from the dead as is reported in testimonies of the Gospels?  More importantly to these Gospel testimonies are these so stated occurrences facts or evidence that can effectively be relied…

Cleansing the Temple: Third Sunday of Lent..

Posted on March 10, 2012 at 19:08 0 Comments

Today's Gospel is about Jesus cleansing the temple in Jerusalem. We gather here…in this place… because of an deep internal desire… to give worship with a heart and mind that are pure. Let us pause for a moment.

I wish to make it very clear from the onset….that I am not here to place judgement of any kind…on anyone.  I am here to speak to you about an issue of dire concern…a very serious dilemma… that is plaguing the whole of society.   This issue is destroying our cultures, our…

I welcome each of you to our celebration of the Eucharist for this…the second Sunday of Lent.  In today's Gospel we see Jesus being transformed or transfigured… when he…along with his three intimate disciples hears a voice saying,”This is my beloved son, Listen to him." We too, are here to listen… and to be nourished by our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us pause for a moment.

I feel compelled to comment on the first reading. I believe for some…this reading could paint a cruel…

According to today's Gospel…from Mark…we hear a very brief account of Jesus being tempted in the desert by Satan.   Even in its shortness…I believe there is plenty in this gospel for us to reflect upon.

Let us look at this first…"From the Mediterranean cultural perspective, the temptation of Jesus by Satan is inevitable after the honourable tribute by the voice from heaven: “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased” (Mark 1:11). Each claim to honour Him is…

God answered back, “Moses, is there any limit to My power?” He was saying, “Just because you don’t see a way, Moses, doesn’t mean that I don’t have a way. All I have to do is shift a few things around, and I can bring it to pass.” And sure enough, in Numbers 11:31, “God shifted the wind and brought quail in from the sea and caused them to fall into their camp.” Notice they didn’t even have to go out and hunt or fish. The quail came to them. They just went outside and picked up what they wanted. What am I saying? God knows how to shift things so that blessings come to you. There is no limit to His power. So get ready to see those open doors of blessing in your life this year!
