Sanjay Dutt vows to make late filmmaker Sanjay Gupta's sequel Kaante 2
Actor Sanjay Dutt has pledged to complete Kaante 2, a project dear to filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, who died after a fall at his Mumbai home.
Gupta died on October 30 after suffering a head injury in a fall at his residence in Mumbai. He was known for directing Kaante, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Zinda and Kaabil.
In an Instagram post, Dutt described Gupta as a brother and family, and said the two had recently discussed a sequel to Kaante, the 2002 crime drama. Dutt said he would make the film in memory of his friend.
Gupta and Dutt had worked together on several films, beginning with Aatish: Feel the Fire in 1994. Their friendship strained around 2007 during the making of Shootout at Lokhandwala, and they reconciled in 2012. Gupta had earlier said he had developed the basic story for Kaante 2 and wished to cast Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Manoj Bajpayee, Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Varma and Ali Fazal.
