Star-studded Korean dramas that failed to win over viewers
Several Korean dramas with major stars and big budgets have drawn criticism for weak scripts, confusing plots and stalled storytelling.
Sisyphus: The Myth paired Cho Seung-woo as a gifted engineer with Park Shin-hye as a soldier sent back from a ruined future. Critics said its time-travel rules shifted whenever the plot ran into trouble, and much of the running time went to chase scenes through Seoul.
Snowdrop, starring Jung Hae-in and Jisoo in her first lead role, was set in 1987 Seoul during the democracy uprising. After a promising start, its story was confined to a women's dormitory for a hostage standoff that lasted about half the series, leaving little room for the romance at its centre.
Bride of Habaek, with Nam Joo-hyuk, Shin Se-kyung and Krystal in its cast, adapted a popular manhwa. The god at its centre loses his powers and is moved to modern Seoul, and many viewers felt the story lost momentum as a result.
