Champions League matchday four: Europe's big clubs face tough away trips

Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid all face demanding away fixtures as the Champions League league phase nears its halfway point.

The Champions League returns on Wednesday with nine fixtures. Liverpool, who have won all three opening European matches, travel to Fenerbahce, but have never won away against Turkish opposition in the competition and have lost five of their six previous meetings on Turkish soil. Fenerbahce have failed to win any of their last 10 European matches, and Dirk Kuyt is in interim charge of the Turkish club.

Arsenal visit Slavia Prague, looking to respond to a 1-0 Premier League defeat to Liverpool on Sunday. Slavia are still seeking their first win of the league phase and have gone 22 Champions League matches without a victory, a run that would equal the competition's longest winless sequence with one more defeat.

Manchester City play RB Leipzig in Germany, a fixture that has produced 30 goals in the previous six meetings. Erling Haaland has scored 12 times in eight appearances against Leipzig. Real Madrid travel to AEK Athens, who have remained unbeaten in their two previous home meetings with Madrid, while Jude Bellingham could become the youngest player to reach 60 Champions League appearances. Borussia Dortmund host Real Betis in another matchday fixture.
