R Madhavan's son Vedaant eyes fresh start in college swimming after Asian Games
Vedaant Madhavan is preparing for a new phase of his swimming career with West Virginia University's team in the United States, following a disappointing Asian Games debut.
Vedaant Madhavan, son of actor R Madhavan, is preparing for the next stage of his swimming career with West Virginia University's swimming and diving team. He joined the Big 12 Conference programme last year after transferring from Virginia Tech. He shared pictures of his preparations on Instagram, including one with the Indian flag.
West Virginia has made a strong start to the 2026-27 season, winning three of its four meets. Its only defeat came against Virginia Tech. Vedaant has not yet competed in an event for the team this season, but the upcoming meets against Clarion and Virginia in early November, followed by the Ohio State Invitational, may offer him opportunities.
At the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya in September, Vedaant was part of India's men's 4x200m freestyle relay team, which finished ninth in the heats and missed the final by one place. He also finished 13th in the 200m freestyle heats with a time of 1:52.01, failing to reach the final.
