Cyber resilience takes centre stage at Dubai security forum
Regional security leaders at a Check Point Engage Dubai panel said recovering quickly from attacks matters more than avoiding every incident.
At a fireside chat during Check Point Engage Dubai, Check Point Software's Chief Security and Trust Officer Alex Spokoiny moderated a discussion with Owen Connolly, CISO of talabat, and other cybersecurity leaders from the region. The panel focused on how AI, geopolitical uncertainty and misinformation are reshaping cyber risk for businesses.
The speakers said cybersecurity is increasingly a resilience challenge. Panelists asked whether organisations could keep serving customers, keep employees productive and let executives decide during a crisis if critical systems failed. They said an attack may last hours, while recovery and reputational damage can last far longer.
The discussion also stressed that people remain the least predictable factor. A single malicious click, a social engineering attempt or a compromised password can bypass technical controls, and AI can make phishing messages more convincing.
