Ben Wang in talks to join Marvel's X-Men as Iceman
Actor Ben Wang is reportedly in talks to play Iceman in Marvel Studios' next X-Men film, due in cinemas in 2028.
Marvel Studios is reportedly in negotiations with actor Ben Wang to play Bobby Drake, the mutant known as Iceman, in its upcoming X-Men film. Trade reports said he was picked from a shortlist that also included Gabriel LaBelle, Jackson Kelly and Rhenzy Feliz. The film is directed by Jake Schreier and is scheduled for release on May 5, 2028. Plot details have not been revealed.
Iceman, one of the five original X-Men, can generate ice and freeze opponents. In earlier Fox films the role was played by Shawn Ashmore. Wang's casting would add to a cast that already includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops and Christopher Abbott as Professor X. Beast is the only one of the original five still to be cast, with Peter Claffey reported as the frontrunner, though this has not been confirmed.
Wang, known for Karate Kid: Legends and The Long Walk, will next appear in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping as Wyatt Callow. The film opens in UAE cinemas from Thursday, November 19.
