Ranbir Kapoor shrugs off trolling over Ramayana as mixed reviews arrive
Ranbir Kapoor has said people should not be bothered by online criticism, days before Ramayana opens in cinemas on November 5.
Speaking to more than 18,000 students across India in a virtual interaction, Kapoor addressed the online trolling the film has faced for months. He pointed to the Kishore Kumar song Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, saying it was a good philosophy to follow and that what matters most is the people who matter to you.
Director Nitesh Tiwari said that if the team's conscience is clear and its effort was complete, nothing else is needed. Producer Namit Malhotra said he had started to find the memes funny and that the best in the world are also being trolled.
The film, which plays Lord Rama in the lead role, premiered in Los Angeles on October 27 at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. International reviews have been mixed: IndieWire gave it a B grade, Screen Rant gave it 7/10 and IGN gave it 4/10.
