Rakul Preet Singh shares Ramayana set photos and talks about her Surpanakha preparation

Actor Rakul Preet Singh has shared behind-the-scenes photos from the sets of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana on Instagram, showing herself during makeup and waiting for a cue before a take. She said she spent four hours in the makeup chair every day to become Surpanakha, Ravana's sister, and she described the role as a rare and meaningful part of a story many Indians have grown up with.
In her post, she thanked producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari, and praised her hair, makeup and costume teams for the hours they spent preparing her each day. Her performance has been widely noted by viewers as one of the film's standout roles.
Rakul has also said in earlier interviews and on social media that Surpanakha is a misunderstood and layered character. She argues that the character's actions set off the war at the heart of the epic, and that she deserves a wider perspective.
