Overnight Emirates Road closures between Dubai and Sharjah until November 15
Motorists heading from Dubai towards Sharjah will face daily four-hour overnight closures on Emirates Road while Etihad Rail carries out infrastructure work.
Etihad Rail has announced that Emirates Road (E611), in the direction from Dubai towards Sharjah, will be closed every night from 1am to 5am. The restrictions begin on Friday, October 30, 2026 and continue until Sunday, November 15, 2026.
The roadworks affect Maleha Street, Emirates Road and the area around the Sharjah Mosque. Drivers are advised to follow traffic signs and instructions from authorities, allow additional journey time and use alternative routes during the closure period.
The work is part of preparations for the expansion of Etihad Rail's passenger network. Al Dhaid station in Sharjah is scheduled to open on September 30, 2026, and Al Dhannah station in Abu Dhabi is likely to begin operations on December 30, 2026. Etihad Rail has apologised for the inconvenience and thanked motorists for their patience.
