Mumbai Indians overhaul coaching staff for IPL 2027
Mumbai Indians have named four new coaches as they seek a fresh start after a poor IPL 2026 campaign.
Mumbai Indians have revamped their coaching staff ahead of IPL 2027, appointing four new coaches. T Dilip will be the fielding coach, Robin Uthappa will handle batting, Mitchell McClenaghan has been named bowling coach, and Dhawal Kulkarni will serve as development bowling coach.
The changes follow the departures of bowling coaches Lasith Malinga and Paras Mhambrey, and fielding coach Carl Hopkinson. Malinga had been a player for the franchise from 2009 to 2019 before returning as a coach and mentor.
Uthappa, McClenaghan and Kulkarni all played for Mumbai in the past. Dilip is the only new appointee who did not play for the franchise. The overhaul comes after Mumbai finished ninth in IPL 2026 and missed the playoffs for the fourth time in six seasons. Kieron Pollard, who recently replaced Mahela Jayawardene as head coach, will lead the revamped backroom team.
