Ronaldo Bows Out of Portugal Duty, Farewell Match Still Unconfirmed
Cristiano Ronaldo has announced his retirement from international football with Portugal, though a farewell game has not been confirmed.
In an announcement on Thursday, the 41-year-old said his time playing for the national side had come to an end. In October he had told supporters they would get a chance to say goodbye on the pitch, but no such fixture has been arranged so far.
The Portuguese Football Federation said it plans to hold a tribute to honour him, giving fans and the country another chance to celebrate his career. Ronaldo scored a record 146 goals in 234 appearances for Portugal and led the team to Euro 2016 and two UEFA Nations League titles.
He will keep playing club football for Al Nassr. He currently has 985 career goals and is still chasing the milestone of 1,000.
