Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi on Ramayana, Yash on why viewers may side with Ravana
The lead cast of the upcoming film Ramayana spoke about their roles, including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.
Ranbir Kapoor said his role as Lord Rama was not a reaction to his earlier film Animal, adding that any capable actor could have excelled in the part given its teachings and journey. He spoke about the production's use of technology and international talent, and said he hopes audiences around the world will watch the film.
Sai Pallavi, who plays Sita, said she approaches the character without treating her as an idealised symbol. She said women play many roles in life and can find inspiration in the female characters of the epic.
Yash, who plays Ravana, said he would be happy if viewers felt conflicted about the character. He said audiences often judge characters by the impact of their actions without considering the circumstances behind them, and that his aim was to make Ravana's point of view understandable.
