Dubai Police have introduced a new medical examination system in the Forensic Medicine Department that has shortened waiting times and speeded up the release of forensic medical reports. Investigators are now receiving key medical evidence sooner.

Major General Hareb Al Shamsi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Affairs, praised the department at a ceremony honouring its staff. He said the reworked procedures had reduced the number of steps needed to complete a medical report, and credited planning, teamwork and careful use of resources. He said accurate, scientifically grounded medical reports help establish the facts of a case.

Under the new system, cases are sorted by the type and seriousness of injuries, so medical teams can choose the most suitable examination. Minor injuries can be documented using existing medical records in coordination with partner organisations, freeing capacity for people with serious injuries to receive earlier appointments. The department said additional medical staff and stepped-up operations have also helped make reports quicker to complete.
