UAE may see more rain in November, expert says
An UAE astronomy expert says unsettled weather could bring successive rain waves until mid-November, with stronger systems possible in the second week.
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, said the UAE could experience a series of rain spells during the first half of November, with colder, winter-like low-pressure systems possibly bringing more widespread rainfall in the second week. He cautioned that forecasts become less reliable the further ahead they look. Short-range forecasts for the next 48 hours are the most accurate, while medium-range forecasts for three to eight days are estimated at 60 to 80 per cent accuracy and forecasts for nine to 15 days fall below 50 per cent. Seasonal outlooks give broader indications of temperature and rainfall trends rather than individual storms. The National Centre of Meteorology reported a 96 per cent probability that El Niño conditions will persist from November 2026 to March 2027, with effects possibly extending into April. The centre said this figure refers to the persistence of El Niño, not to the likelihood of heavy rain, and that the strength of the phenomenon alone cannot determine rainfall amounts or intensity.
